Antonio de Yanguas was Chapel Master at Salamanca Cathedral between 1718 and 1753. He probably composed this work while he was Chapel Master at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. He also occupied the Chair of Music at the Universidad de Salamanca. The Salamanca Cathedral Archive includes some 500 original musical works composed by Yanguas.
